MINNA’S STABLE AND REINDEER FARM
How do the local people live in Enontekiö? What do they do with their reindeer? To these questions and many others, you will get an answer when you visit us!
You will see some of our reindeer and get to know them better by feeding them in our corral and the reindeer lifecycle is explained to you. Everyone is provided with a talk about reindeer husbandry, the reindeer lifecycle, and life as a local herder family in Lapland.
Everyone is also given the opportunity to see a lasso demonstration and to try throwing it for themselves. In addition to being reindeer herders, we have one of the northernmost horse stables in Finland. We breed two breeds of trotters: Finnish Horses and American WB Horses and we can talk more about this side of our lives to those interested.
In our Kota (Lappish cottage) we will serve hot drinks and a tasty lunch of reindeer sausage, Lappish bread and salad, whilst seated around an open fire. There will also be an opportunity to taste dried reindeer meat. (Vegetarian option available) whilst we chat about sámi culture and the history of reindeer husbandry.
